Task 4 Jesus' Birth Song
When
we prepared the RP1, the first difficulty we encounter was the problem
with our computer and our computer skills. I never used Blogger before, so I
didn’t know how to create a blog or post a new article. Furthermore, during the
preparation of First Video and Second Video, I realized the importance of our computer
hardware. You don’t need to waste your time on time lag. And, the level of
understanding about your computer is also really important. Initially, I didn’t
know the two small holes next to the computer camera have the microphone
function! I didn’t know some headsets with microphone need two female jacks of
connector. After this, I realized I am some kinds of computer idiot. In short, with
a good computer we can get the effectiveness. And, with the familiarity to our
computer functions and conditions of our computers, we can enhance the
efficiency, too.
During RP1, the newcomers are really
quiet. Though two of them, Tina and Robert, are good at speaking, their voices are
really small during the activity. After I reflect the reason for that, I
discovered I didn’t give them a lot of opportunities to reply---they only
needed to reply the words that Maria Nancy forgot. Furthermore, I didn’t call
someone to reply certain questions. Thus, they keep silent because they are not
sure whether other newcomers will reply or not. Most important of all, I didn’t ask the
participants to leave their cell phone number to me in order to contact them. I
made this mistake, so I let everyone got nervous when we couldn’t find Tina
before the start of the activity. I revised these mistakes in RP2. In RP2, I called the newcomers by their appearances and the color of their seats to avoid them from not replying and to encouragement to interact with the environments.
After RP1, we found the discontinuity of
the two worlds, the savage world and civilized world. Thus, we started to connect
the two stories. And, because in Task 4, Maria Nancy is the one who fly to the
savage world to save the newcomers from savage island, so she need to make connection
to the savage world, that is, playing a role in savage island. It is hard to
explain why Ralph became Maria Nancy, so we just used some nonsense reasons such
as the dragons hit Ralph’s private part. However, these nonsense reasons won the
participants’ laughter. Thus, I discovered that the emotions of the
participants will be affected by the story that we created. Though the added
story part, make the activity time longer, it indeed increase the continuity of
our activities between two opposite world.
Moreover, the whole project cannot be done by one person. We need to team work. Furthermore, if we want to do the project well, we need to have the communication skills such as giving suggestions without losing the politeness. Though Tony's group and our group are in the "different world," but we teamwork with each other really well. At first, we are separated into two groups and we have different ideas about the buildings, story lines, but we never fought and argued with each others. Instead, we negotiated with each other and tried to combined the two opposite worlds. Therefore, I want to say thank you to the savage group. During RP2, Michael sat far from us, so I couldn’t see clearly what happen to him, but Ruby, Tony, and Jill helped me to take care of him. That was really sweet. And, as we revised the narrative of our stories from RP1 to RP2, we always discussed it peacefully just like the words from Sherlock, "Keep calm and think!" because it is helpless for us to use sentimental way to discuss. I think it is a great attitude to do things.
I want to say thank you to my group members, too. Any time we have problems, we work together. Interestingly, every time teacher said something to us in English, we all reply "yes," "oh," or "ok." However, noticed that we all interpreted it differently as we discussed the requirements teacher had said. However, we would not argue with each other, but I would ask teacher first in Chinese to make the goal clear and then we would continue discussing it. Thus, I notice that as people do their works, they need make the goal clear first because the goal is like the light which can guide us to the right way. Without the goal, we will get lost.
I really satisfy the outcome of our buildings, proposal, and the final project and I even gain the close friendship with Jumito and Andri. Therefore, I want to say thank you to teacher. Thank you for giving me this challenging and unforgettable course.
