TASK 5 REFLECTION

                                                                  REFLECTION 

                In the RP1 activity, actually I am little bit dissatisfied with my task, because I can’t make good interaction with all of the visitors. For the first activity in my task, I can’t control my avatar because something wrong about my computer, so my avatar can’t move so fast. And after I can go to Nancy’s part to make some conversation to relate with my task, I find some problems about my voice, my voice can’t hear clearly by all of the participants because I put my mike very closed with my lips, so when I take a breath my voice can’t hear clearly by participants. But I think I have designed by avatar based on our story, Civilization, and the setting of my game can make relation with my characters. So, all of the things about my task can make connection each other so it will make my task very interesting and easy to understand by all of the newcomers. And I also wear the black dress, the black dress who always wears by avatar in Christianity we known as ‘’ Vestments ‘’ so I designed my avatar looks like the real priest in our first life. Maybe some of participants think that my task is very easy and simple one, because as the teacher told us that some of students last year have the difficult designed for International students so maybe it is make some participants who know and play the second life before feel so bored with my task. In the first activity actually I just focus on my script and didn’t try to make some joke or something to make the participants keep on fire to finish my task. And when I am going to give them the instructions, some of them maybe a little confused because sometimes I speak so fast. When the play my task ‘’ God’s Gospel Puzzle’’ I didn’t make sure about what they should to do if they know or want try to guess what is the real word behind the picture. I have designed my task so well, and I am already really understand and know how to make the participants easier to familiar with my designed, but I miss something the most important thing in my part, it’s talk about the participants activity, what they should to do in my task, they need to speak up or just write down in the wall. I am less interaction with my participants, the problem is not in my designed, but how I can make the good interaction with participants while I give them the instructions and play the game. 

             In RP2, I decided to make the new rules for my task. When they are going to guess and complete the puzzle, I will ask them one by one and they need to speak up.  They don’t need to write it. I will give them the turn to guess what the real words in the upper wall and they can make connection with the picture to make them easier to complete the puzzle. Because the Task 6, Nimrot’s designed we can’t call their name but just with their appearance, so all of us need to describe and know them based on the appearance. When I am going to give the turn who will guess the second picture, the third picture, until the eight pictures I just try to describe their appearance with what kind of their dress colour, hair style, and also their gender. So it will make us challenge to make their description very well and they have known about it. So they will not confuse when I ask them to complete my puzzle.  I think in the second activity, all of the pictures can guess by the visitors very well, although in the beginning I need to give them to example. But finally they did it well, we did it well. One of the most important lesson I get in this project, in my task exactly, we have to be a good communicator, so we can make good interaction with the visitors without missing some instructions for the game.

            Honestly, this is the new project for me, but I am so lucky we have friendship here just not  group works generally. We always have discussion together moreover for the final project. We need to spent much time together and discuss with Cigi how to edit the video so our final project can be the best. In the first discussion we just make some key points what we will discuss with Cigi, because all of us still confuse about how to edit the video. It’s really hard for us to make our video can be shorter because all of us have each part almost 5 until 7 minutes, so we need to cut it. And we discuss about how we can start the video and how our story will begins. One day before the presentation, we finished the final project at 01.30 o’clock in the morning and sometimes when we feel so bored we just make some joke and being crazy together. This project is just not taught me about what is the goal of this project but more than it. Friendship, patient, and be creative are the key points for finish this project. And I am so lucky, I can design my task based on my experience and my background knowledge in my first life about Christianity, and I am Christian. So I know more about the elements of Christianity.  I don’t need to design my avatar more and more because it depends on his characters as priest. Simple and just show his good attitude to the visitors so the visitors will understand about the elements of the Christianity first and after that I will teach them a little bit about the sacred of God. When they look at my appearance they will know that I am a priest because I designed my avatar looks like the real priest generally in the first life. 

Task2 Character—Lady Medusa

Lady Medusa is the character in Task 2. She is a reference to the woman Medusa in the Greek Myth. However, she is also a unique Medusa who was actually a modern princess in a civilized world but drifted by monsters to the savage island, which is an element of time and space travel. After being trapped in this savage island, she was bitten by a poisonous snake and her legs were turned into snake tails. Her beautiful humane hair was also changed into tiny snakes. And small green dragon wings emerged from her back. The poison of the snake also left many tattoo-like marks on her neck, body and arms (fig. 1).

 Most important of all, her eyes gained a kind of mysterious power to turn everything she glares into stones. With this strange but powerful ability, she became a queen of the savage inhabitants and creatures who lead the savages to fight against the invaders (fig. 2), but at the same time, with this horrible appearance, she could no longer go back to her kingdom.

They defeated them and Medusa hung their heads on the island to warn other outsiders who intend to attack the island (fig. 3).

After this event, the status of Medusa as being a queen of the savages was consolidated until Robinson came to this savage place. Robinson wants to civilize the savages in order to corporate the island into the civilization. Medusa and Jack who were allies are constantly having fights with Robinson. Medusa thinks that it is better for the savage islands to be isolated from the civilization of men because she regards men in the outside world corrupt, and the savages are the ones that preserve naïve and pure characteristic. Therefore, she often meditates alone reflecting the possible future path for the savages (fig. 4).

Moreover, although Medusa is a powerful queen in the savage place, she is somehow lonely. Thus, when she sees the visit of the participants, she dreadfully wants to force them to stay in the island. The description above show the complex personality of Medusa.

Task 2: 1, 2, 3, Escape – Scenes

I design the scenes in my task very savage and dangerous-looking in order to fit my character Medusa who is a queen of the savages and creatures. Therefore, I put huge crocodiles and snakes in the scene of my task to enrich the background story of Medusa and her task. Also the head from figure 2 and the statue of the snake in figure 3 are used to fertilize the personality of Medusa. They not only highlight the fatal characteristic of Medusa, but also make her personal feature easily memorable among the participants.

Just like my name, I like to read the bible and share the texts of the Bible to others. All those texts are sacred. I can sense it when I am reading. That’s why I want to become the priest in the Church. I have heard form Maria that you are not satisfied with your real life; maybe you can help me to solve this puzzle in the bible and then you will sense the holy atmosphere from God like I do. okay everybody can see the picture in the wall? 
Newcomers     : Yes,,
Andri               : There are some pictures in the wall, okay, there are many pictures on the lower wall some odd words from the upper wall that you never see.  On the upper wall, there are some odd words that I don’t understand but the pictures on the lower wall might help you to solve the puzzle. For example, let me show you the first picture. the first picture there are four words in the upper wall, OCTA can you see the words?

Andri              : Thank you so much, you are so really really smart  Maybe it is suitable for you to become a nun or a priest like me because you can read the difficult texts in the Bible. It would be lucky if we have you~let me introduce some sacred goods to you, so you will be bathed in the sunlight of God and then you’ll not get depressed.

The first is cross
In Christianity, the cross is the intersection of God’s love and His justice. Jesus Christ is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world
The second one is candle

As there is a word of god that say, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven."

Ok, since you get the basic sense of Christianity and have the ability to read the difficult version bible, now I’m sure that you really have the potential to become Christians. So, let me introduce you the most important things you need to know. God forgives all of the sins of people, but we have to believe in Jesus first.”

And then you you already get the sense of all these holy things. Now I can remind you the most important thing in Christianity. “God forgives all of the sins of people, but we have to believe in Jesus first.”

TASK 5 '' God's Gospel Puzzle's Instruction''

Task 5 God's Gospel Puzzle is kind of the game which can lead you to know and understand about word of God. In this task one by one of the participants will have return to try to guess some pictures in the wall and try to find out what is the real word in the upper of the wall.
The game will start when I was coming in to Maria's Nancy party, and I ask each of participants to fly and falling down because Maria's Nancy party in the upper of our church. So the first I will give the direction to participants to falling down and go to the backwards of the church.
After all the participants have already in the back of the church, I will explain them first about the design of the game, the rules, and how they will play the game. I will give them the example based on the first picture on the wall.
And then they will have turn to guess and complete the word puzzle with make connection with the picture in the wall. let me show you the example
For example, in the first wall there are some words without meaning. So all of the participants need to try and guess some word to have a meaning. Let see the word in the first picture. OCTA, in this game you just have to guess what is the real word behind the picture. O can change into M, C can change into A, T can change into R, and A can change into Y, so it comes to be Mary. After they finish complete all of the puzzle words, I will tell them a little bit about the sacred of God based on the holy bible. So based on this game, all of the participants must be speak up if they already know and have idea what is the real word in the wall. They need to be communicative person and try to be creative to guess the possibility of some words.With this game we will know how far the ability or knowledge of someone in Christianity, because all of the pictures very closed with Christianity, although maybe some of participants are not Christian, but I think it's okay, at least they will know and understand some elements for Christianity.






Task Design for Task 2 – 1, 2, 3, Escape

Task Design for Task 2 – 1, 2, 3, Escape


Task 2 combines bodily movement and song singing. The purpose is to test the participants' brain and physical coordination. The final singing task is also testing the participants' familiarity to basic Mandarin listening, oral, and pin-yin skills.  

It is based on a game called “Red Light, Green Light” in our real world. One person is designated as “it” and plays the part of the stop light. The other players line up about 20 feet away from “it.” Facing away from the other players, “it" calls out “Green light!” The others move toward “it.” “It” then calls out “Red light!” and turns around quickly. Anyone who is caught moving must go back to the start line. Play continues until someone reaches and tags “it.” That person then becomes “it.” The trick to winning this game is to move smoothly so that you can freeze instantly until you are within reach of “it.”

However, to combine with the story of my character and our savage island, I adapt the name of my game into, “1, 2, 3, Escape.” The following is the rule:

Step 1. The visitors should start the movement from the starting point where the portrait of my character Medusa is located (fig. 1). And I will be standing at the final stop-- the location with the lyrics of the song “Medusa” is shown-- with my body turning away (fig. 2).

Step 2. During the participants’ movement following the red direction mark [see fig. 3], I will turn myself around by saying “1, 2, 3, escape” When they hear the utterance, they have to stop walking until I turn around again. That means when they see me turning around again, they can keep moving.

Step 3. When the participants arrive the final spot where I stand, they have to sing few sentences from a song called Medusa from a Chinese well-known singer Jolin Tsai. In RP1 of this stage, the visitors just have to sing out the song with Mandarin and they can pass the challenge; however, in RP2, I add another task for them to make my game more complex: when they sing out the lyrics, they also have to type out the pin-yin of each sentence in our chat room.









Task 6 - JumitoNim-God Wind Blows

The first time I entered this class I am still confused about how the learning in this course is. Especially since I have never attended a class like this before. However,thereafter I began to understand what exactly is the purpose of this class. According to my understanding, Online English Learning class is the class which  try to combine English learning process, with the use of more advanced technology.
I like the learning in this class, especially because we are focused on one project that is Second Life. The use of media Second Life is a good and effective method in learning English. How not, in the use of this application, not only to encourage and develop a language skill, but also a lot of things. Personally, my language skills have evolved during the lectures in this subject. When I communicate through a second life, my speaking skills is demanded to be able to speak fluently with people in Second Life. In communicating orally, we are also required to be able to optimize our hearing so that we can understand the meaning of what was spoken by the speaker. In addition, I am also expected to have more vocabulary, to be better in communication.
In designing our project, firstly I was very confused and no idea of ​​what we would like to do. However, since the learning in this class is in the collaborative form or in groups, so we could have a simple way to get ideas by way of exchange of ideas. This is an interesting and very useful. So, not only in our second life we are required in order to communicate, but more than it I am also demanded how to interact in the real life. Especially when a friend of my group is also a Taiwanese, so we should be required to accomplish the group task with the use of English  in which it is equally as the foreign language for us. More on designing our projects, we are required to create a story by collaborating it with the different group’s story and to make them into one integrated story. Therefore, we were required to be creative and more creative in creating and completing the project. This of course affects the development of our creativity.
In addition to some of these benefits, there is another thing which is not less important. When we finished a part of the project, actually it was sometimes a bit complicated if we have to rewrite what we have done. However, when the teacher returned what we wrote, we could  know and evaluate how far our writing skills in describing our work is. Personally, I know where my mistake in writing lies, whether vocabulary, grammar or my punctuation. So, there are a lot of things I got from this study.
           
I am also very grateful, because through this class I can get a very good friends who is a friend of my own group, Nancy. Honestly, he is very much helpful and taught me in following this course. Actually, we did our project together and with the final decision which came from the different ideas. However, I own a lot of things learned from her. Therefore, we often spend time together and make our friendship even closer.
In running these applications, I may still have many shortcomings that I have experienced. Especially when the first play of the game, I still do not understand, especially the games which were designed by the other group. In addition, in bringing or leading the game on my own, at first practice unfortunately still a little  bit awkward. I was less able to interact with the  newcomers interactively. That's what I evaluated before the second session. In the second session, I think I've had a better progress than the first by inviting of participants to play my game more interactively and enable them to play my game one by one.
In conclusion, the presence of English Learning Online learning, give a lot of benefits for me. Not only give lessons on how to use technology, but a lot of things, especially for me as a student who is majoring language. I got an integrated skill, from speaking, listening, writing, creativity, and also how to socialize in the virtual world and the real world. Results of this communication, will enable us to have more friends from around the world, its the same thing as I am with my friend, Nancy. As a teacher candidate, in the future I will implement this more advanced type of learning to my students in improving the more  advance quality of education for the people. Thanks.
