Jack- Characters (Ruby)

[Tenderness in Roughness]
      Jack is the character in Task 3. He is from the novel, Lord of the Flies. He and some friends were shot down on this island on their way to escape the war. He became so in love with savage life here and tried to kill other fellows who held different opinion with him such as their leader, Ralph. When others were rescued by the English navy, Jack decided to stay on this island alone and hunted every day.

Jack exercised every day and became very strong. He spend his ten years here and met two friends, Lady Medusa and Robinson. He liked to wear only underwear in order to show off his muscles to them and invite them to exercise with him.

The years did not washed away Jack's tenderness inside the wrap of savage toughness.Even though Jack was autocratic, he showed his kindness and tenderness toward the ones he cared about He hunted food and made delicious barbecue for Lady Medusa and Robinson every day. And he never revealed tiredness because that's what he liked and they were who he was concerned with.

His tenderness reveals not only in the dining part. For example, the conch was the stuff he cherished so deeply. There had been a tradition during the Lord of the Flies period that whoever got the conch could have the rights to speak. Consequently, the conch represented power and control. However, Jack was willing to let the visitors touch the conch. He even built two  tongue twister boards to have fun with them. He thought that these interesting games might relieve the visitors since they just arrived in this unfamiliar savage island. He tried his best to make the visitors fall in love with this savage paradise as he did ten years ago.

Moreover, Jack created his own tattoo on his chest, back and two arms. The only two colors were red and black which both got from the plants on the island. Red symbolized his passion and black his loyalty. The image on his chest was inspired by his mental savageness. Like a monster eager to devour all the creatures with its giant red eyes and cruel mouth.

  Yet on Jack's back was a tattoo with a cute face which hinted his inner child-like characteristic. Jack had stayed on this savage island when he was 12 years old. Even though time flied, his mind remained as a child which stayed with the wildness of hunting.

I could still recall the voice, the body and the kindness of Jack. He taught me their dialect patiently and hunted food for us visitors. I must be drunk to choose to go back to the civilized prison in the end of the challenges at that time. But I would never forget the incredible journey on the savage paradise. Now I could finally realized why it was called a paradise. Maybe one day I would wake up and found myself standing on the beach, enjoy the flavor of the most delicious BBQ, and feel the freedom of savageness with Jack.

Robinson - Characters (Jill Lin)

    This is my Avatar in Second Life (Pictures above,) and I design it on the basis of my knowledge about Robinson in the novel Robinson Crusoe. Robinson is an Englishman, but he spends more time in the places outside his hometown, so rather than making his outfit like a 17th century English man (though the race of my character is chosen based on it), I make his appearance exotic. Also, according to the novel, he has some pets, and one of them is a parrot. That's why I buy the parrot from the Second Life market. The parrot will have some babbling if I touch him, and this behavior can be fit with the story that Robinson teaches his parrot as a way to prepare for the goal of teaching the aboriginals on the island English.

The clothes I also buy from the market, because I think that Robinson who experiences so many years on the savage island, will accept the art of the aboriginals, such as tattoo and the necklace made from human's bone, in some extend.

RO: Uh, it’s my turn to ride the dragon today.

RO: We have to follow the rule and take turns.

JA: Who cares about the rule.

ME: Hey guys, calm down. The dragon is my pet. I decide who can ride it.

JA: No, I found it first.

RO: No way. It’s my turn.

ME: No, guys, no, I ride it today.

MC: Oh.

ME: Hey, wait, look at these guys. How come our savage island got three visitors today?

RO: I saw a broken ship far away.

JA: Ha they must encounter shipwrecked. Poor you.

ME: Poor creatures. Did you get lost? Where are you come from? Wait that island, I saw a werewolf with some human.

JA: When you arrive at our savage paradise, there’s no way for you to leave. Look at our place. So good, so natural.

ME: Yeah, we don’t have to test and paper here. All we do is hunting, dancing. So good to stay in this savage island.

RO: Hey, guys, they look a little bit confused and terrified now, why not we introduce ourselves first to them. Um-hum.

ME: [Hi.]

JA: [Hi.]

ME: I’m lady Medusa.

JA: Hi, I’m Jack.

RO: And I’m Robinson. So let me show you around this place. But before we start our adventure, all of you please make sure that you have joined the group chat and also check you have opened the chat box already. Have everybody check, check your chat room is online? Um, can somebody res, response? Um, three s, three visitors? Can you hear my voice?

MI: Yes.

MC: Yeah.

MH: Ye::s.

RO: Yeah, thank you. Okay, so let me guide you, I came here a long time ago, because I met a storm in my sail from my homeland, that is England, that’s why I came to this island. Life here is filled with adventure. And I also met my best friend, Friday, here in my adventure. He is a native of this island. We become friends because I save his life from the other savages. However, we find that there is another native tribe in this island. Those people will eat outsiders as a kind of traditional ceremony. Though I’m smart, but I cannot fight the human eaters only by myself. So, I think you three, may have some talents. So please look at the board here. And I’m the one with a parrot on my shoulder. Can everybody see the board? In front of me?

MI: Yes.

MC: Yes.

ME: Yes.

RO: Yes?

MI: Yes.

RO: Yes, okay, so like I said, I cannot fight with those human eaters only by myself, so I need Friday’s help to recruite his people to fight against those human eaters together. And this board in front of you guys, is the thing that I use to teach Friday some simple English words. Because I cannot communicate with Friday’s people with English. So I want to train him to my translator. Unfortunately, someone erased the words on it, can you guys guess what words they are to let me see whether you guys are clever enough to join me? You can guess from the help of the pictures. And if you get the answer, please speak the answer loudly so I can hear you. Okay, start to guess! Can everybody see the board?

MI: Yes.

RO: Yes, and thank you, Mita.

RO: And how about the third one? Look at the picture really carefully. Um-hum.

MC: Wait. ((Really small voice.))

RO: Um-hum. Look at the picture, really carefully. There’s something miss-

MI: Friday!

RO: Yes, yes, Mita got the right answer!

MC: ((Laughing))

RO: Yes. You guys got the right answer, so you guys are smart enough to join me fighting those human eaters. Why not let me take you to see Friday. He will be happy to see you! So follow me! Follow the one with the parrot on his shoulder. Uh:: Why can not, I cannot move.

RO: Okay, yes, I can walk, everybody follows me.

((Big breathing voice appears))

RO: Um-hum. ((Small voice.))

((Big breathing voice appears 2 times))

ME: You cannot intrude my place.

RO: Well, well, well, here comes the naughty snake, get out my way, snake. I’m the king of this island, I can do whatever I want, and now I want to take these smart guys to meet Friday. Last time he said he has been visit, in-invited by you, so where is he?

ME: Don’t be fool, he’s not here.

RO: You’re lying! I can see through your face! Get out my way, where is he? There’s, what? There’s only a statue here. Where did you hide him? You evil snake!

[Stop at 9:11]

ME: I won’t tell you. Hahahaha…Hey, why not you three guys come to my place? I just feel lonely since I first arrived here! I become tired of being the queen of monsters only. I also want to be a queen of beauty.

ME: No one will not be attracted by appea..appearance, not to mention these three good-looking people. But I will not compromise with that silly bastard Robinson who wants to civilize the residents in this savage place. How dare he! I am the first person who comes to this savage place. And now he is gonna reverse the order of host and guest. I will not allow this kind of thing happen!

ME: Visitors! I have to warn you. Men in the civilized world corrupt, and the monsters shall rule the world. I believe that you have all seen my lovely dragon. Do you see it? From now on you will see more creatures in your adventure. You will know that men are just tiny pests in this world.

RO: Medusa! Stop acting so radical. Your insights are just too shallow, just like Jack. I’ve told you many times, civilizing the savages can make the world of men a melting pot, we can live harmoniously together.

ME: Fuck off, Robinson! I believe that you’ve searched for your beloved friend Friday for a long time. Now I will finally show you where he is. Follow me.

((show everyone the statue))

JA: Okay.

ME: Do you see the sta…statue?

RO: What? Is that Friday? I hate you Medusa! I hate you.

ME: Anyone who appreciates the civilization comes no good end! Hahahahaha…

ME: Now, visitors, I will show you that being a savage, a friend of the savage creatures is the wisest choice.

JA: Yeah, show them your charm also, since you’re the queen of the savages and monsters.

ME: I like your words Jack! Listen carefully visitors; now I will formally introduce myself to you guys. Be aware of my beautiful but fatal eyes, it’s very dangerous. I will tell you why later. So, can everybody see me?

JA: Of course.
RO: Yes, yes. (Not clear)

ME: Okay! So I will introduce myself. I am Lady Medusa, the most beautiful but fatal woman in this savage place. I was a princess in a faraway kingdom long time ago, before I was drifted to this place. My life was originally filled with luxurious food and clothes. But, it all changed overnight when the horrible day came 4 years ago. That night when I was wandering in…in my garden, a thick mist of monster occurred and grab me to this savage place. As soon as figured out that there were mysterious creatures in the mist, it was too late. And few days passed, and I gradually found out that there are huge snakes and crocodiles, and dragons in the mist. I was also bitten and poisoned by a huge snake. So my legs changed into snake tail. Most im… most importantly, I can turn anything I glare into stones. And this ability makes me a queen…a queen of creatures. And since I am lonely, I need more out…siders to accom..accompany me here on this savage ((unclear)).

ME: If you cannot complete the mission I offer you, you will have to stay in this savage island with us and celebrate the “savageness” with us.

ME: Do you have the courage to take this challenge?

MI: Yes!

ME: Answer me, visitors!

MI: Yes!

JA: Yes.

ME: Okay, if so, let me introduce my task to you. Follow me.

ME: You guys have to play a game called “1, 2, 3, escape.” The rule is that you will start your walking here.

ME: You’ll start your walking here. Here. The place I stand.
MI: Oh.

ME: And, you have to go here, to here, and finally to here.

MI: Oh!

ME: And during your process, you have to watch out for the fatal creatures, they will probably harm you.

ME: Okay, so, back to the starting place. During your process, I will standing at the final spot with my back behind you. And, and I will say,“1, 2, 3, escape.” Before I turn around, you can keep going, but when I turn around, you have to stop moving. Is that clear to you?

ME: Can anybody answer me?

MI: Yes.

MC: Yeah.

ME: Hey, visitors. Do you see me?

MI: Yes.

ME: Okay, and…follow me to the final stage. I will teach you another task.

ME: Hi, I’m here.

ME: Okay. Like I said, you have to walk to walk to here. And when you arrive, you have to sing a song called “Medusa.”

JA: Okay things are not that easy. Medusa, I will use my magic to let them stay here.

MH: Yeah got that. Just got that. It’s correct. They are correct.

JA: Hey, the guy with red cap, the and the weird wolf, and the guy with white shirt. You played so hard. run and run over and over again especially the weird wolf.

MH: Yeah

JA: You keep walking. You must be hungry.  

MH: Right.

MC: I am

JA: Oh

ME: Yeah I can tell they are hungry. I am hungry now. I want to eat barbecue now.

JA: Don’t worry. I already hunted some meat for you and did the barbecue. Barbecue is over there. Follow me. I will show you how delicious they are. Follow me.

ME: Okay.

MI: Where where are you?

JA: I am I am the one with tattoo and naked. Almost naked.

ME: Oh

MC: oh I know you are naked.

JA: Do you see me?

MI: Yeah yes yes

JA: Do you see the barbecue?

MI: Yes

Task 3- Escape from Dragons

Location- Salvage beach

JA: Yeah they smell so good. Can’t wait to eat them. But for you guys, you need to um get the shell first. Oh the shell the memory ten years ago. Lord of the flies. My friends and I took on the plane to get away from the war. But we were shot down and trapped on this island. We found a big shell to call everyone’s attention and whoever gets the shell has the rights to speak. I was in charge of hunting food. And Ralph was chosen to be our leader on the island. But he was a coward. He prefers civilized methods here and was afraid of the beast in the mountain.

RO: You told me about Ralph’s story. He sounds really annoying.

JA: Yeah we had a lot of quarrels.  So I decide declare myself as the leader of a new tribe. I cut off the head of a giant pig as the offering to the beast. You can see over there on your right side, a head. And I decide to kill the coward Ralph. I asked I asked the dragon to attack him and set the forest on fire. He but he fled to the beach and then the smoke was too huge. I couldn’t see what happened to him and he just disappeared. But I still want to stay in this savage place. I love hunting.

ME: Oh you hunt everyday so we can have food. Love you Jack.

JA: Oh the barbecue are almost overcooked. Time to decide who can eat them. Do you guys see the board the two board?

RO: Yes

JA: In front of the

MI: Yes

JA: Yeah. And everyone fir at first, you need to read out the the board on your the left the left one. Peter piper this one. Um can the guy with the red cap read this one first. Peter piper

MI: Okay. Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers. A peck of pickled peppers Peter Piper picked. If Peter Piper picked a wait a moment I can’t see it uh.

JA: Hum hum

JA: Well done.

MI: Yeah huh

JA: You clea are you clear about the rule?

ME: Yes.

MC: Yes.

RO: Jack, Jack, can you explain to them how to touch the shell?

JA: No. You just go near the shell and you can touch the shell. You don’t need to take that.

RO: Ok.

JA: Ok so everyone’s ready? Um where’s the weird wolf?

MI: Where are you?

JA: Weird wolf?

MI: You are here. You have to close

JA: We need to stand at the same position. How about the one with red cap?

MI: I am here here uh here yes hum hum hum
