R: Here are the members of this savage paradise, they are all my friends, hey guys, why not introduce yourself to our new friends?

M: Hi, I am Lady Medusa, am I attractive outsiders?

J: Hi, I am Jack. Nice to see you guys.

R: And I am Robinson.

R: Okay, and here is our garden. Before we start our adventure, all of you please make sure you have joined the group chat and also check you have opened the chat box already.

((Wait for the visitors to open the group chat and the chat box.))

[Task 1- Escape from Human Eaters]

R: Okay, actually I came here a long time ago, because I met a storm in my sail from my homeland, and that is the reason why I came here, this beautiful island. With some difficulties, I have built my own shelter. Also I met my friends here, and my best friend is Friday, and he is a native of this island. Life here is peaceful, and I don’t want to go back. However, we find that there is another native tribe in this island. Those people will eat outsiders as a kind of traditional ceremony.  To avoid the coming danger of being eaten, I need your help. Look at the picture here.

((Walk to the board))

R: Can you guys see it? This board I use to remind myself the things I need for fighting with the human-eaters that I have mentioned. Unfortunately, this board falls into water last night, and some of the words on it disappear, can you figure it out? You can guess from the ingredients. And if you get the answer, please type it out in the chat, so I can check it is right or wrong.

R: Yes, thank you, these are just exactly what I want. With these things, I can fight back those human-eaters, and live a peaceful life here, thank you so much. R: Hey, Medusa, last time you said you are lonely, but I’m so busy in fighting with the human-eaters, so I let this three nice people to play with you, and you can take them to look around our island!

Location - The Monster Swamp

M: I am always lonely! I tired of being the queen of monsters, you know. I want to be a queen of beauty. No one will not be attracted to my appearance, not to mention these three good-looking people. Come, boys and girls, follow me to my territory, “The Monster Swamp.”  

M: Okay, now let me introduce myself to you guys. Be aware of my beautiful but fatal eyes, it’s very dangerous. I will tell you why later.

M:  I am Lady Medusa, the most beautiful but fatal woman in this savage place.
I was a princess in a faraway kingdom, before I was drifted to this place. My life was originally filled with luxurious food and clothes. But, it all changed overnight when the horrible day came 4 years ago. That night when I was wandering in my garden, a thick mist suddenly occurred. As soon as I figured out that there were mysterious creatures in the mist, I was grabbed by a big tentacle and was delivered by an invisible creature to this island. Few days passed, and I gradually found out that the creatures in the mist were originated from this island. After be bitten and poisoned by a huge snakewhen I was sleeping one night, my appearance changed. My foot were transformed into a huge snake tail. My hair were also turned into many tiny but poisonous snakes. Most terrifying is that I can turned any creatures I glare into statue. With this ability, I no longer have to be afraid of those fearful creatures. I can rather reign them. But with this inhuman appearance, I can hardly return to the civilized world. I need more outsiders to accompany me here on the island.
If you cannot complete the mission I offer to you, I will have to turn you into statues and keep you on this island with me. Do you have courage to take this challenge? If so, let me introducemy task to you.

M: You guys have to play a game called “1, 2, 3, escape.” The rule is that you will start your walking here((showing the starting point)) and finish at here((showing the ending point)). And I will be standing over here with my body turning away. All you have to do for your final goal is to walk to me and sing few sentences from a song called Medusa from a Chinese well-known singer JolinTsai. I will teach you firsthand, don’t worry. However, during your proceeding, I will turn myself around by saying “1, 2, 3, escape” When you hear the utterance, you have to stop walking and play “Rock, Paper, Scissor” with me. If you win, you can walk further in one step. If you loose, you have to walk backword in one step. If we tie, you just have to stand right in the place you are standing.

If you break the rules, you will be stared by my fatal eyes and be turned into statues by me. Are you ready? Let’s start!

((After all the visitors arrive))
M: No! I can’t believe that you guys can escape my attraction. How dare you! But I have to stick to my promise and let you go. But, that man((pointing to Jack)) might not set you free so easily.  Jack, it’s your show time.

J: Hey, do you guys have fun with Medusa? Aren’t she attractive? Now let’ turn around and walk straightly. I want to show you my collections. Just follow me.

J: Oh do you guys remember my name? Yes, I am Jack. I was one of the character in the Lord of the flies. My friends and I were abandoned here 10 years ago. I fell in love with hunting and the savage life here. So when we were saved by the british marine, I refused to go back to the civilized society and decide to stay here. We used to hold the conch to have the rights to speak. So if you want to ask me for help and go back to the civilized society, you need to touch the conch first. And then finish the tongue twister in front of you. Anyone who first finish reading the tongue twister can go back to the civilized society and others need to stay here with me forever.

J: ((talks to the visitors))Well-done. You are the first one finishing my challenge. You can go back to the civilized world. And you two need to stay here with me. Come on. Our savage island is pretty good.  You won’t have exams, presentations, and term papers here. I will treat you delicious BBQ and offer you rides from the dragons. Don’t they sound quite attractive?

J: ((talks to the civilized group)) Nooooo. You can’t take these two. They belong to the savage island now. Okay I am in a good mood today. Why not go to your place to check out which is better, the civilized or the savage. And let the visitors choose. Let’s go. Medusa, Robinson and you three.

The lyrics of the song depicts that the wind is like the gospel from Gods. With the winds, we can have delicious loaf in the morn is the way we appreciate the God. In Christian culture, all Christians need to follow the regulations of the God. For me, it is like the teacher who always has the power to tell students to do something, and there is a power in the God’s words as well. But, this one is divine one, so we cannot disobey it. Do you want to try this? This one is called Bid Wind Blows, which can lead you sense the God’s existence. Bible-bashing Andri have told me you have the potential to understand the difficult texts in the bible. So, after realizing the God’s existence, you’ll start to believe God.

In the Big Wind Blows, one of us will be the Gods in one turn. When the God says “Big wind blows” and then you need to reply “blow what” and then the God will tell you like “Blows someone who wear the skirt.” If you wear the skirt, you need to stand up and change the seat as quickly as possible. As you stand up, the God will rush to the seat as well. If you don’t sit down quickly, the previous Gods will ask you to be the God in the next turn just like the movie “Bruce Almighty” to that you know that it is hard to be a God. Is that clearly? I hope you are ready for the sacred words from God and obey it without arguing. Let’s pray!! Amen!!

Task 4-Jesus' Birth Song - Task Design

Task 4 God's Song 

Task 4, "Jesus' Birth Song," is to ask each of participants to use the "world-map" to find another location, fly to other places by using the world-map and following the guidance of red arrow, sit on the cushion, and sing out the Christmas song together. One goal of this task is to test their ability to use the "techniques" or "skills" in Second Life to enhance the efficiency of moving. They would be able to type the correct location name and number by paying attention to Maria's sayings, that is, to enhance their listening ability of different accents. 

Moreover, though many people will consider the singing task too easy and unsuitable for the age of adults, the goal of the singing task is to reach the emotional needs and to give people a sense that people will not always remember the things clearly all the time. Like Maria Nancy, sometimes she
loses her memories.

There are a lot of parallels in the song, like "you better watch out, you better not cry, better not pout" and "he sees you when you're sleeping, he knows you when you're awake, you knows if you've been bad or good." These parallels can help them to remember the lyrics and create the earworms, which match our goal to convince or "brainwash" people to believe the God.

(1) Section 1: World-map
   
Initially, John doesn't allow the participants go back to the civilized world with Maria. However, after Maria Nancy won in the game of Little or Big. John allows the newcomers to fly back to the civilized place with Maria. Therefore, the first thing Maria teaches the newcomers is the skill to use the World-map. First, Maria asks the participants to click the option "world" on the top of the screen and then go to the "world-map." After they open the "world-map," Maria asks them to type the location name, Motru, next to the word "find." Later, Maria asks them to  type the location number: 189, 37. 39.
   

(2) Section 2: Flying
   
After they type the location number, Maria asks them to follow the red arrow and fly with her to the civilized place, Da Vinci Church. Thus, in this section they would have the ability to control their avatar's direction and learn how to fly by clicking the option "fly." Furthermore, they need to follow Maria Nancy, so they need to control their avatar well in order not to get lost.

(3) Section 3: Sitting

Before the singing activity, Maria asks them to sit down on the colorful cushion first. So, Maria Nancy asks participants to fly again to the upper place and sit by clicking the option "Sit Here" or clicking twice on the cushion. If the participants don't control their avatars well, it is easy to fall down.

(4) Section 4: Singing Christmas Song

In RP1, this game is based on the story of Jesus's Birth. Mary is one of Maria Nancy's ancestors and the song of Santa Claus is coming to town is also related to Jesus's Birth. Furthermore, Maria Nancy is preparing for the Christmas, but she forget some of the words in lyrics. Thus, in this task, Maria Nancy asks the newcomers to help her to complete only some of the missing words.

In RP2, this game is based on the story of Lord of Flies. John sent two dragons to attack Maria Nancy (Ralph.) One of the dragons attacked Ralph's head. After he was rescued by the British Navy, the doctor said to him that his brain damage cannot fully recover. Thus, Maria Nancy sometimes will lost her memory. Thus, she ask each newcomers to help her to complete one section of the lyrics instead of the words.

Hi, I’m Bible-Bashing Andri, a priest in this church. Just like my name, I like to read the bible and share the texts of the Bible to others. All those texts are sacred. I can sense it when I am reading. That’s why I want to become the priest in the Church. I always bring my bible wherever I go. Bible is one of  the most important thing in christianity.  we can see and learn about what God's said for us. Bible will show us what the christianity is, and how the bible show us the way to make relation closer with God.

 I have heard form Maria that you are not satisfied with your real life; maybe you can help me to solve this puzzle in the bible and then you will sense the holy atmosphere from God like I do. On the upper wall, there are the words that I don’t understand but there are some pictures on the lower wall. Maybe these pictures will help you to solve the puzzle. Good luck for you and me.

In this part you have to complete the puzzle, we have designed the game based on The Davinci Puzzle. we take some pictures under the wall so it can help you to guess the best word. for example : OCTA, O can be M, C can be A, T can be R, and A can be Y, so the complete word is Mary. You have the clues from the picture.

Not only in the church, but commonly in human life, flowers symbolized the beauty and the peace. So in the church and in Christianity also, we need to live beautifully by living peacefully as like Jesus always teach us to be peace and love all the peoples even our enemies.

The first texture is the direction mark. In the first and second RP, it is used to make the interlocutors know the direction to proceed in my task (see image 1).

The second texture is the lyrics of a Chinese song called Medusa, sang by Jolin Tsai, a Taiwanese famous pop singer. I will teach the interlocutors to sing it in Chinese. In the first RP, I added the pin-yin (拼音) to guide the interlocutors-- especially the international students--to sing the song much easily (see image 2). However, I found out that the interlocutors are too smart to sing the song correctly; therefore, in my second RP, I took off the pin-yin part as well as changed the background image (see image 3), and not only ask them to sing out the song but to type the lyrics in pin-yin in our chat room.

Task 3 - Escape from Dragons

There are four materials I used  in task 3.

       First of all, the scene of group one is around the beach. Seeing the deserted scenery, our group members decided to create a series of story about savages. The design of task 3 is based on a novel, Lord of the Flies. For the details of the story, you can visit Sparknotes for the plot overview. (http://www.sparknotes.com/lit/flies/summary.html) And due to the importance of the conch in Lord of the Flies, I put a conch in task 3. This image is from the website Inside Fort Lauderdale.       And I used two tongue twisters for task 3. The first one is in English. I searched the words from Mother Goose Rhyme.((http://www3.amherst.edu/~rjyanco94/literature/mothergoose/rhymes/peterpiperpickedapeckofpickledpeppers.html)). The second tongue twister is in Chinese. I found it in this website(http://w199584.pixnet.net/blog/post/16553910-%E4%BE%86%E7%9C%8B%E7%9C%8B%E6%9C%80%E9%9B%A3%E7%9A%84%E7%B9%9E%E5%8F%A3%E4%BB%A4%E5%90%A7). I turned the Chinese words into pinyin through the translated website, iQ Techonology (http://www.iq-t.com/SYSCOM/pinyin2.asp).

Task 1- Escape from the human eaters

    Task 1 is to solve the puzzle, and it is based on the story of Robinson Crusoe and here is the puzzle that I need the visitors to solve. (Picture 1) Participants  have to guess the words (i.e., Gun, Raft, Friday) from the hints with pictures which I give them. The purpose of the game is to make the participants know more about Robinson's life.

RP1:

RP2:

    Speak out the answers. I remove some hints (Picture 3) to make the game more difficult since the first one is too easy.

Game details and the background story:

   This board contains the thing that Robinson Crusoe uses for teaching Friday some simple English words to communicate with the aboriginals. If the participants solve the puzzle, I will take them to find Friday.

Oh! It's about Christmas! When the Christmas comes, everyone celebrates it happily. But do you know about the origin of Chirstmas? 
Let me introduce the origin of Chrstmas to you. It begins with Mary. She was married to Joseph. One day an angel comes to her and said “Mary, the Lord has blessed you and he is with you. Listen carefully Mary, you’ll become pregnant and give birth to a son of God, and you have to name him Jesus. He’ll be great and people will call him the Son of the most high. So, Joseph and Mary made a very long journey to a place called Bethlethem and it was there in that stable that Mary’s baby was born and she called him Jesus. And so it was, and it is, the story of Christmas. After the birth of Jesus, we name the Day Christmas and celebrate it on 25 December every year.

Hi, everyone, I’m Maria Nancy, a nun in the Da Vinci Church. Mary is one of my ancestors. She is my grant great grandmother’s sister. So, Jesus is one of my relatives. In order to know more about my ancestors’ goodness, I join this church. Recently, I have heard some news that you don’t satisfy your real life, so you want to get away from the depressing condition, actually I really want to invite you to our church because our mission here is to bring people to the Saviour. That is, safe you from depressing life. For me, it is like the teacher who always has the power to tell students to do something, and there is a power in the God’s words as well. But, this one is divine one, so we cannot disobey it. Do you want to try this? This one is called God Wind Blows, which can lead you sense the God’s existence.
